The Iraq War claimed the lives of nearly 90 Wisconsinites, among them was Army Spec. Benjamin Alexander Smith, 21, from Hudson.
This week is the 10-year anniversary of the beginning of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq that eventually led to the capture, trial and execution of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. Lost in the war was one local man. Army Spec. Benjamin A. Smith, 21, of Hudson was killed near Baghdad on Nov. 2, 2005, when an improvised explosive device detonated next to his vehicle.
