Principal Issues Letter About Suicide Pact, Rumored Violence at Hudson High School

Hudson High School will see an increased police presence on Friday to ensure student safety and to "increase the feelings of safety and security."

Hudson High School Principal Laura Love wrote a letter on Thursday, April 28, to inform the community of a suicide pact among students and to dispel rumors of any planned violence. Love's letter informed parents that a wild rumor that "three girls planned to come to school on Friday and shoot others and then themselves" had evolved from "more of a suicide pact" among the girls. In the letter, Love said that administrators and school counselors met with the girls and their parents had been contacted to help the students work through their issues.  The letter came just a day after 16-year-old student Bryan W. Aumann was found dead in Somerset after an apparent suicide. UPDATE: Hudson School Board Approves Small Cuts to Band, Chinese, Business Programs

Additional cuts make up $34,041 in cost savings for the district.

Update (9:30 p.m., April 27, 2011): At a special meeting held at a conference room at the Hudson School District building on Tuesday, April 27, the Board of Education approved an additional round of personnel cost reductions beyond the preliminary list approved at last week's special meeting. The additional cuts make up just 0.63 full-time equivalent certified positions—0.27 from the band program, 0.19 from the Chinese program and 0.17 from the business program. Along this thought, the School District is by far the largest employer in Hudson. if every employee of this large "corporation" would have about $5000 - $10,000 less of take home pay per year (that would be the case if the Walker Bill would become law), I strongly believe that mostly the smaller businesses in Hudson would feel a strong impact from the loss of the spending power of these employees…   more ›
