The Hudson High School football team opened its season Friday night at Newton Field with a 28-7 victory over the 2011 WIAA state champion Kenosha Bradford Red Devils. The victory avenges the Raiders' 33-13 road loss last year at the hands of the Red Devils. The loss breaks the Red Devils' 14-game winning streak after going undefeated in 2011. The Raiders' next action comes on Friday, Aug. 31, in their Big Rivers Conference opener on the road in Rice Lake. --- Want photos? Hudson School District is working with the Hudson Police Department to provide extra caution after what is considered a low-level threat.
UPDATE (4:23 p.m., Feb. 13, 2012): The Hudson School District posted the following message on its website this afternoon: HS classes were held as usual today (Feb. 13th) without disruption. Thank you to our staff, administrators and the Hudson Police Department for extra supervision throughout the day. The building was searched after every passing time. An additional graffiti message was found. Immediate action was taken to identify those persons who were in the area at or about the time the message was left. Security cameras are providing evidence that is helpful to the investigation. We believe this to be a prank. However, felony charges and expulsion may still occur. Hank Brekke has been developing iPhone apps for more than two years.
Here’s how you talk online to Hank Brekke, the Hudson High School freshman whose flashcard studying iPhone app will soon have been downloaded 10,000 times: Brekke started dabbling in web design the summer after he graduated from elementary school. “I first made some really cheesy, bad photo gallery websites,” he said, blushing for his prepubescent immaturity. “But I started to get annoyed because you couldn’t edit the code in iWeb.” So he taught himself HTML and CSS using tutorials he found through Google. “I’m not self-taught, I’m Google-taught,” Brekke said.
