Hudson Common Council to Hear Backyard Chicken Proposal

Do you support a proposal that would amend city code to allow backyard chickens in Hudson? Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

Agreed. This is a council that hides behind a comprehensive plan one minute and changes it the next. What "public use" will the tourism visitor center be used for? Oh wait, it is now rezoned commercial. That was not in the plan. Some blowhard from the public works department made the statement that "it can be done" and "we are in the business of selling water" even when Mr. Darnold and the city …   more ›

Hudson Common Council Approves New Lease for Afton/Hudson Cruise Lines

The Hudson Common Council approved a new dock lease agreement to Gordy Jarvis of Afton/Hudson Cruise Lines.

The Hudson Common Council on Monday unanimously approved a new dock lease agreement to Gordy Jarvis of Afton/Hudson Cruise Line. The five-year fee schedule and changes in the March 15 draft of the Courtesy Dock Lease Agreement means the lease will increase from $1,100 a year to $5,000 annually for the first five years—after which the last five years of the leasing fee will be reviewed with an option to increase. The lease was also extended from three years to 10 years, and allows for a third excursion boat at the Courtesy docks, contingent upon the approval of a dock reconfiguration application submitted last week to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Two of the boats will stay in Hudson year around and will be bubbled, Jarvis said. If the …

Well stated PR. 49 fortunate mooring holders would agree, and I am sure hundreds of other visitors who discover this little spot of heaven. Beyond the mooring field, the entire riverfront is a precious assett to our city and we need everyone in city hall to make better decisions based upon preserving and enhancing this resource for all.   more ›
