First responders were called to Touch of Sun Wednesday afternoon (May 1) after a woman’s medical boot got caught on the accelerator, causing her vehicle to crash through the front window of the tanning salon.

John Stary, who lives on Stageline Road, called police at about 8:43 p.m. Monday to report that a Black Bear had climbed through a window and was walking around inside his home.
John Stary used to hunt for blackberries, and while in the woods he always hoped to see a Black Bear. “When I was out picking berries, I’d look for bears. If I heard a noise, I’d run toward it,” he said. “But after coming face to face with one in my dining room (Monday night), I don’t think I’d run toward it anymore.” Stary lives on Stageline near O’Neil Road. A police chase that began in North Hudson early Sunday morning turned into a manhunt on the frozen St. Croix River. A St. Croix Falls man was later taken into custody at a home in Lake St. Croix Beach.

Hudson Police officers, St. Croix County Sheriff's deputies and Wisconsin State Patrolmen took an Illinois man into custody just before noon on Sunday, Feb. 24, after he allegedly drove off from a Woodville gas station without paying for more than $50 of gas. It was discovered that the car he was driving was reported stolen. Officers pulled over the green Audi into the median near mile post 4 on westbound I-94 and approached with their weapons drawn, attracting much attention from motorists passing by. Adam J. The City of Hudson swore in two newly promoted sergeants on the Hudson Police force on Monday evening at City Hall just before the Hudson Common Council meeting. A woman who saw our Patch story on Racine Uncovered alerted police to James Eckhoff being at the Riverside Inn on Northwestern Avenue.
James Eckhoff is in custody in the Racine County Jail and is expected to be transported to St. Croix County to face five felony counts of sexual assault of a child. He is wanted in Hudson for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old girl on multiple occasions. Eckhoff also has a warrant out for his arrest in Kenosha County issued June 15, 2012 for battery and disorderly conduct. His address on that record is listed as the 1100 block of Sheridan Road in Kenosha. Court records indicate he lived on Mt. Pleasant Street in Racine as recently as 2010. A warrant has been issued for a man charged with multiple sexual assaults of a 14-year-old Hudson girl stemming from incidents between October and December.
A Southeast Wisconsin man who has lived in Hudson on-and-off over the past several months has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault of a child under 16 years of age. James M. Eckhoff, 49, is wanted by authorities and faces five felony sexual assault of a child charges stemming from multiple encounters with a 14-year-old girl where he lived, according to a criminal complaint filed on Jan. 9. Charges: The encounters allegedly occured between October and December of 2012 while the girl's family members were either asleep or away from home, according to the complaint. Hudson Police have confiscated 52 pieces of merchandise and issued $12,480 worth of drug paraphernalia citations to the manager of The Hideaway, but a case currently pending in Hudson Municipal Court could render all the citations moot.
Hudson Police confiscated 52 pieces of merchandise and issued $12,480 worth of drug paraphernalia citations to the manager of The Hideaway on Monday afternoon. Shop owner Wael Sakallah has 52 citations coming his way as well, according to Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen. "They were selling drug paraphernalia like Left of Center was," Jensen said. Local police conducted a similar operation at Left of Center, the downtown smoke shop, in May 2012. Municipal court proceedings began over two days last month on that case and are set to continue on Thursday. Witnesses say the 48-year-old River Falls mom stopped her vehicle on the shoulder of the bridge Thursday morning, left her 11-year-old daughter inside, climbed over the railing and jumped to her death on the frozen St. Croix River.
UPDATE (9:15 a.m., Dec. 28, 2012): St. Croix County Sheriff John Shilts confirmed Friday morning the name of the Pierce County woman who jumped off the I-94 bridge to her death onto the frozen St. Croix River on Thursday after leaving her young daughter in the car. Molly Crumley, 48, of River Falls, pulled onto the shoulder of eastbound I-94 on the St. Croix River bridge, exited her vehicle, climbed over the railing and jumped to her death at about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27. Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen said the cell phone shop was the victim of a smash-and-grab burglary early Wednesday morning.
Eight police officers, including five St. Croix County Sheriff's deputies, two Hudson Police officers and one North Hudson Police officer, responded to an alarm at the Verizon Wireless store at 1027 Pearson Drive at about 5 a.m. Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen issued the following initial statement to Patch on Wednesday morning: There was a smash and grab at the Verizon store this morning. Officers arrived and began looking for possible suspects who had broken out the front window of the store with a rock. We are still working on getting the total numbers of items taken and their costs. This post will be updated when new information becomes available.
