Hudson Patch to Host Second School Board Candidate Forum

Hudson Patch will host a school board candidate forum with the four candidates at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, at the Phipps Center for the Arts. The entire community is invited to submit questions via email and attend the event.

Hudson Patch will host a school board candidate forum with all four candidates at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, at the Phipps Center for the Arts. Hudson Patch Editor Micheal Foley will host the event and act as moderator. The entire community is invited to attend and participate in the forum, which is possible because local business owner Paul Rode paid the Phipps rental fees. The River Channel Hudon/North Hudson Community Access TV will tape the debate for later airing on Comcast cable's Channel 15. The station also will post a YouTube video of the event, which will appear on Hudson Patch. Jeanette Kunz, Jamie Johnson Bruce Hanson and Jim Schrock have qualified for the April 2 general election by placing in the top four during the Feb. 19…

School Board Candidates to Face Off in Forum

Hudson School District Board of Education candidates Bruce Hanson, Jamie Johnson, Matthew G. Kari, Jeanette Kunz and Jim Schrock will participate in a candidates forum Thursday night.

The five candidates for two Hudson School District Board of Education seats will participate in a forum Thursday night put on by school parents groups. The event will take place at the Willow River Elementary School auditorium from 7-8:30 p.m. Candidate Information One of the five candidates will be eliminated in a primary on Feb. 19. The remaining four will face off in a general election on April 2. Hudson Patch is planning a candidate forum between the primary and the general election. School Board Candidate Matthew Kari Introduces Self to Hudson Voters

Matthew Kari is the fourth of five Hudson school board candidates to send a statement to Patch. For Kari, a tax accountant, it comes down to the bottom line and how the district spends its money.

Just as Jamie Johnson, Bruce Hanson and Jeanette Kunz have done before him, Hudson School District Board of Education candidate Matthew Kari has issued the following statement about why he is running for a seat on the school board: I have lived in the Hudson community for the past nine years. To be honest, when my wife and I moved to the Hudson community the last thing I would have considered is running for school board as our kids are grown and did not go to school here in Hudson. That said, about six years ago we have taken on the task of raising two of our grandchildren, and when we were ready to enroll our granddaughter into school, my wife was told that we may not have room for her. Just watched the candidate forum. Kari was by far the least prepared and presented himself as a budget hawk first and foremost . Seems like a decent guy and I too thought his statement above was articulate, but he presented very poorly at the forum. My concern with Kari, as it is for Kunz and Shirock, is that they will surpress wages and drive our best and brightest teachers across the river to …   more ›
