During the questions and comments portion of the meeting, residents spoke about bike trails, roads, illegal dumping and the town's border with River Falls.
More than 45 Troy town residents filled Troy Town Hall for the town's annual meeting on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. The meeting began at 7 p.m. and lasted nearly an hour before adjourning. A special presentation from Baldwin Telecom followed the meeting. 2011 Road Construction Plan: Troy Town Chair Ray Knapp said that there will be no major road improvement projects in Troy in 2011, but reconstruction is planned in 2012 between North Glover Road and Coulee Trail. Knapp asked for anyone with ideas to call Gary Parent (lead road crew employee) at the Town Shop. Park Board Report: Jill Berke said that new brochures are available for parks. Town Chair Theresa Johnson and Town Clerk/Treasurer Marie Schmit bid farewell to town government.
About 70 residents attended the St. Joseph Annual Town Meeting held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at St. Joseph Town Hall. The meeting began at 7 p.m. 2010 Town Report: Outgoing St. Joseph Town Chair Theresa Johnson highlighted the completion of the development of a 10-year road maintenance plan and an open house for the new fire hall addition. Town Supervisor Brian Gullickson updated residents on the town’s high-speed Internet project. The contracted firm, Northwest Communications (of Somerset/Amery), told him that the progress had been slow, but the system is working and is now in the test phase. Town governments will meet, hear annual reports, seat newly elected members and set up their committees for the next year.
Each year, the Tuesday after the spring election brings a flurry of government action at the three town halls surrounding Hudson. The towns of Hudson, St. Joseph and Troy will all hold their annual town meetings tonight. Troy and St. Joseph meetings begin at 7 p.m. while the Hudson meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. All three meetings will be held at the town's hall.
