The St. Croix County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony is set for Tuesday at Hudson High School. The event will honor officers killed in the line of duty and recognize the contributions of local officers.
The St. Croix County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony will take place 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Hudson High School auditorium, according to a posts on the North Hudson WI Police Department page and the Hudson WI Police Department page on Facebook. In his invitation to the community, New Richmond Police Chief Mark W. Samelstad wrote the following: Every year many officers make the ultimate sacrifice while doing their jobs. In 2012, 120 officers were killed in the line of duty. This ceremony will pay tribute to these officers, as well as recognize the contributions of all the officers who work in St. Croix County.

Whether you are looking to give books, school supplies or cash, a Hudson business is ready to facilitate your donation to help the St. Croix Central Elementary community get back on its feet following Tuesday's fire.
St. Croix Central Elementary School in nearby Roberts will be shut down for the rest of the year due to the fire that broke out Tuesday. Authorities have an arson suspect in custody, and classes will continue next week at Rolling Ridges Girl Scout Camp. In the meantime, area communities are coming together to help the school's students and teachers get back to learning. Hudson Schools are closed on Thursday because of inclement weather.
The Hudson School District added the following post later this morning: The decisions made to close, delay, or release students early from school are not made lightly. We are very conscious of the impact closings have on schools, students, and families. There can be a wide variance of snow and road conditions across a district as large as Hudson. While road conditions in one area may be safe, other areas may be hazardous as was the case today. A 16-year-old boy from Houton, Wis., died in a crash on I-94 near Stagecoach Trail Thursday evening in Lakeland, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
A 16-year-old boy from Houlton, Wis., died in a crash on I-94 near Stagecoach Trail Thursday evening in Lakeland. Jonathon H. Pohlen was traveling westbound on I-94 when he lost control of his vehicle due to snow on the roads, crossed over the median and collided with a semi-truck travelling eastbound on I-94, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Roger D. Wilkins, 51, of Eau Claire received minor injuries as a result of the crash. Snow could start falling in earnest Wednesday night.
The Twin Cities office of the National Weather Service on Monday declared a winter weather advisory for much of west central and central Minnesota, including St. Croix County. Some parts of the region could see as much as six inches of snow fall between Tuesday morning and Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service. In St. Croix County, the forecast calls for rain until Tuesday night, when sleet will start accumulating. Snow will begin Wednesday, and three to seven inches could fall Wednesday night.
