School Collects Donations for Fire Victims, Networking on Tap Today in Hudson

The North Hudson Elementary School PTO is collecting donations for the Lucas family, who lost their home in a house fire last week. The Chamber is networking at Postmark Grille, and the Winzer Stube is putting flood damage behind them.

The National Weather Service is calling for a gorgeous day to get out and enjoy Hudson.

Tuesday's forecast is for clear skies with a high around 76 degrees, which makes for a great day to go for a hike, take a bike ride, hit the links, head out on the river, grab a bite at a local restaurant or shop at your favorite stores.

A few things you should know today:

Erica is going to be a 5th grader at NHE this fall. Their house is most likely a total loss. Immediate needs include cash donations, gift cards to grocery stores and/ or WalMart and Target, Kohls, JC Penny's, etc.

Mr. Schmidt will be collecting donations at school from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Thursday, July 25. After that, donations can be dropped off at Fairfield Inn under the Lucas name.

Understandably, many of you may not be in a position to make a donation today. But if you are able, the needs are great and all help is appreciated.”

During last month’s storms, the Winzer Stube lost power and had extensive water damage throughout the restaurant. They re-opened earlier this month, and posted this status update on the Winzer Stube German Restaurant & Bar Facebook page on Monday:

“Hey Folks! We're up and running and appreciating all the love and support from you! Thank you again for your patience through that unfortunate time but we're ready to put it behind us, grab a lager and a schnitzel and party on!”

Head on down to Second Street and grab a brew and a schnitzel.

On Thursday, July 25, Supreme Court Justice (and former Minnesota Viking) Alan Page and his daughter Kami Page will be reading from their book "Alan and His Perfectly Pointy Impossibly Perpendicular Pinky" at 4 p.m. at Chapter2Books.

The Hudson Public Library has several book club and story time events happening this week.

In addition to the Phipps' Event Calendar, ArtReach St. Croix's events calendar, St. Croix Splash, is another great way to stay current with what's going on with the arts.

This week, according to St. Croix Splash:
