Watch a Time Lapse of UW River Falls Corpse Flower Blooming

The University of Wisconsin River Falls posted this time lapse video to YouTube showing the corpse flower that opened in the school's greenhouse Monday night.

A corpse flower opened at the University of Wisconsin--River Falls Monday night.

This YouTube video of a time lapse of the flower opening has since been posted by the school with a description that reads:

"Titan arum, commonly known as the corpse flower, is a large rare flower named for the stink of rotting flesh that is emitted as it blooms. The blooming cycle can span anywhere from several years to several decades with the bloom lasting only a few hours. For the second time since it began growing at UW-River Falls in 2001, it has entered its bloom cycle. The last time the flower bloomed was in October 2010."
