Workers Busy Laying Foundation for Hudson's First Walgreens Store

Work began earlier this month at the site next to Culver's. The new Walgreens drug store should be built in about six months, according to the developer.

In case you've been wondering what the construction crews next to  are working on at 141 Carmichael Rd., it's a new Walgreens drug store.

The plans for the 14,490-square-foot drug store were approved by Hudson Common Council back in early June, and work finally began earlier this month.

According to plans presented to the City of Hudson in May, the building will have the familiar-looking brick and glass facade typical of most Walgreens stores. It also will include a drive-through lane to the north and a service area to the west. Main access from Carmichael Road will be shared with the development to the south, which includes , , ,  and several other businesses. Access also will be open through the Culver's lot.

John Kohler of Semper Development Ltd. said on Tuesday, Aug. 23, that the preliminary foundation work is being done now, and work will continue throughout winter. He said the facility should be completely built within six months, placing the completion date in mid-February.

There's no word yet on how long it would take Walgreens to stock the store, hire employees and begin operating.
