Hudson Varsity Lacrosse Earns Multiple 2013 Honors

Hudson Raider Varsity lacrosse earned honors for eight different players and a coach from the Minnesota Boys Scholastic Lacrosse Association (MBSLA) for the 2013 season.

Attack players must stay on the half of the field by the opponent’s goal.  In the position of attack, senior Brandon Schwartz, #15, was chosen for All Conference First Team and All State.  Senior Taren Motte, #2, was chosen for All Conference Second Team at attack.

Midfielders, the runners and gunners of lacrosse, play on both the offensive and defensive ends.  Junior McKay Potter, #8, was awarded All Conference first team, All State, and Academic All American at Midfield.

Long Stick Midi (LSM), a midfielder who plays with a long pole, just shorter than a defense pole, is a specialized and crucial position that often scoops up the ball during face-offs. Junior Cole Bjork, #26, was chosen for All Conference First Team and All state at LSM.  Senior Riley Collins, #11, received All Conference Second Team.

Defense players, who must stay on the half of the field by their team’s goal, use a stick that is up to 72” long.  Freshman Gabe Franck, #7, was awarded All Conference First Team for defense.  Junior defenseman Connor McGill, #18, earned All Conference Second Team.

Certain players specialize in the all-important face-off.  McKay Potter, #8, also won All Conference and All State honors as a face-off specialist.

Jordan Madden, #17, was awarded All Conference First Team and All State honors as goalie.

Jake Johnson was honored as Assistant Coach of the Year.
