Hudson Police: Use Caution When Mailing Sensitive Material

The warning comes after a report of mail theft Thursday morning in the 1500 block of Laurel Avenue.

The Hudson Police Department is cautioning residents about using their personal mailboxes to send sensitive mail.

“Many thieves drive around looking for the red flag to be in the up position, signaling that mail is inside to be taken by the mail person,” Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen said. “Many people have personal information stolen this way, such as, banking information, Social Security numbers and birth dates."

Hudson police encourage people to drop off their mail in a post office mailbox whenever possible.
