Ka-Chunk, Ka-Chunk: A Pause in Pile Driving at St. Croix Crossing Construction Site

Crews rested the equipment during the recent spell of brutally cold temps.

Cold weather is the choice time for driving piles at the site of the new St. Croix Crossing bridge, because people living nearby have their windows closed and aren't as bothered by the rhythmic thunking from the machines.

But last week's extremely cold temps meant crews had to stay indoors and there was a lull. Warmer temperatures mean pile driving work will resume later this month, according to MnDOT.
